Fleet Renewal: Moving Old Vans Out As New Ones Arrive
Renewal programmes fail on the disposal side, not the acquisition side. New vans land on a delivery schedule you don't control, and the outgoing vehicles sit taking up yard space, insurance and depreciation. We work backwards from your delivery dates so outgoing vehicles leave as replacements arrive.
Timing the two sides of a renewal
A renewal that replaces 40 vans over six months creates 40 disposal events, not one. We build a rolling schedule: vehicles are appraised up front so the residual value is known for the business case, then collected in tranches as replacements are handed over. Nothing is off the road twice and no driver is left without a vehicle.
Protecting values on same-model batches
Twenty near-identical vans entered into a single auction compete with each other. We spread comparable vehicles across sales and across regions so each lot faces fresh bidders. On larger programmes that difference is typically worth more than any headline trade offer.
- Batches split across sale dates and locations
- Higher-spec and low-mileage units positioned separately
- Damaged or high-mileage units routed to the buyers who want them
Evidence for the business case
Finance teams need a residual number before a renewal is approved. We provide a written expected range per vehicle up front and actual results after sale, so the next renewal cycle is forecast on your own data rather than a guess.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you hold vehicles until the replacements arrive?
Yes. Collection is scheduled against your delivery dates, and if a replacement slips we simply move that vehicle to the next tranche.
Do you handle vehicles still on finance or lease?
Yes. Where a vehicle is on an agreement we work with the settlement figure and the funder so the sale clears the finance correctly.
What about liveried vehicles?
Livery removal can be arranged before sale. Most fleets prefer branding removed on collection, and it usually improves the result.
How many vehicles is worth a renewal programme?
Anything from about five upwards benefits from staged disposal. Below that a straightforward bulk sale is usually simpler.
